Quilts for Empowerment is a vocational training program that provides an opportunity to learn a new skill, gain self-confidence, and earn a Fair Trade income by making quilts in an emotionally supported environment. Each quilt is uniquely made from African fabric and personalized with hand stitching using embroidery floss. Products include placemats, table runners and tote bags as well as decorative quilts that often tell a woman’s personal story through her embroidery stitching and choice of fabric.

The women sell their quilting wares along side the products from the sewing program. Every bit they make helps them rebuild their lives and move on from obstetric fistula.
